Lara walnut is a walnut variety known for its high lateral branch yield. It originates from France and is pollinated by other French-origin walnut varieties such as fernette and franquette. In addition to being suitable for high-altitude areas, it also yields a high quantity of walnuts per acre. The fruiting rate on lateral branches is very high. At the age of 5, it can produce 1 ton of walnuts per 10 acres, and between the ages of 8-9, it can yield 4-5 tons per hectare. The nuts have a dry shell weight of 13 grams, while the kernel weight without the shell is 6-7 grams. The kernel yield is between 45% and 50%. Fernette and franquette walnut varieties serve as pollinators for Lara walnuts. Lara walnut can be planted at altitudes above 1000 meters in high-altitude regions. It is recommended to plant Lara walnuts on south-facing slopes in mountain or hillside areas, as they yield higher compared to walnut trees planted on north-facing slopes.
